IQ Testing
IQ Testing is an office-based service provided in Kentfield, CA.
What is IQ testing?
IQ testing provides a picture of your child’s overall cognitive functioning. Overall intelligence (IQ) is comprised of several aspects of cognitive functioning and IQ testing will measure your child’s potential in the following areas:
Verbal problem-solving
Non-verbal (visual-spatial) problem-solving
Working memory
Processing speed.
Reasons for IQ testing:
Requirement for school admissions/extracurricular programs
To understand how your child’s cognitive profile is impacting their academics and/or school experience.
Which types of tests are used to measure IQ?
When working with your child, I will use one of the following tests:
Wechsler Primary Preschool Scale of Intelligence – Fourth Edition (WPPSI-IV)
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- Fifth Edition (WISC-V)
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Test – Fourth Edition (WAIS-IV).
*If your child has had previous testing with these instruments in the past year, another measure will be administered.
The Testing Process involves:
2 Hour testing session with your child.
Brief written report of scores
30 minute phone call with you to discuss your child’s results in more depth.
A note on preparation: Your child should not do anything to prepare or practice for intelligence testing, as this will invalidate their results. The most important thing you can do for your child is ensure they get a good night’s rest prior to testing and eat a healthy breakfast the morning of testing.
Fees: I charge a flat fee for testing which will be determined, based on the test that your child requires. IQ testing for school admissions is not covered by insurance.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
